                       GOVERNOR FASHOLA REJECT CHIEFTAINCY TITLE

On september 8th, the governor of Lagos state, Governor Babatunde Fashola  turned down a chieftaincy title offered to him by the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abiodun Oniru at the monarch's 75th birthday and 18th year coronation anniversary. In his remarks, the Governor stated categorically that he needs a maximum focus on his primary assignment which is the running of the state and that the chieftaincy title can wait.
“Kabiyesi and his chiefs can continue to lead us, let them deal with all those traditional and chieftaincy issues. At the appropriate time, we will come and join them, but for now, leave us in our suits, booths, overalls and helmets, because this agbada is not good for clearing refuse and tarring the roads.”
In the course of the event, he however received the award of excellence conferred on him by the monarch.
